cray-on: MOAI

generative art

My daughter calls her drawings ‘M.O.A.I.’ Her fearless mark-making inspired me to create 64 curated digital art pieces through a generative algorithm that captures the essence of how crayon hits paper, each unique, like signatures of pure creativity. It’s a father-daughter collaboration meets on-chain art made possible with @greyblok

My daughter was bringing home these wonderful sketches that eventually sparked an idea. Why not make these into something?

Through iteration, I created an algorithm that emulates crayon mark texture with different stroke patterns brought to life with animation.

The entire collection lives fully on-chain as artwork on Ethereum mainnet. The variations are small, medium, large sizes with combinations of 1, 2, 3 and rainbow colours as unique seeded scribble patterns. Each piece has a name inspired by my daughters counting language.

The transition between the preview through to final art was included to make the experience complete.
A sideways “rainbow” c mark represents the work and the possibility of continuing the series in different ways by applying a similar approach.
